David Broder on Obama's plan to win

I was hoping this is what is happening on Obama's part: let McCain go negative all he wants with quick but restrained response and work on the grassroots. Obama just may have found the way to make this work. I have heard rumors of Obama's campaign being confident in Obama's chances, even given the poll numbers shifting in McCain's direction recently (but not in some meta-poll polls which aggregate data which is interesting).
