Some may believe that Social Security will not be there when they retire, especially those in Generation X. I agree, but not for the usual reasons. Check out this from Josh Marshall, one of the best bloggers on issues of Social Security.
A personal note: my grandmother lived her life on social security, raising my father and aunt/uncles on the social security benefits she got from my late grandfather who died '46. It showed me that the issue with social security is not about what is in it for me, but what is in it for the elderly who are saved from abject poverty. As usual, shame on GW. What a scumbag.
